A regular fly-in (rally) of the L-40 Meta Sokol owners and operators took place at the airport
of the Aeroclub Vysoke Myto on 11 July, 2009 and at that occasion the
Aveko company
held the First VL-3 Sprint Fly-In.
The total of 17
VL-3 aircrafts
met there, when 9 of them arrived from the Czech Republic, 5 from Belgium, and singly from France,
Poland and Luxembourg. The mother company has carried out free services of their aircraft there.
A navigation and precise flying competition has been set up for all attended aircrafts, which consisted of
a flight along defined route for specified time limit with locating objects from photos on a map and
rating of landing accuracy. Individual scored items were praised by up to 120 points in accordance with
meeting of given criteria and the maximum total gain was 360 points.
To surprise of both organizers and competitors, the top amount of points was gathered by crews of two
aircraft at once, namely Polish one with Mr. Bryzgalski as a pilot on the VL-3 aircraft and
Czech one of Mr. Králíček with the L-40 aircraft with as high score as 320 points and
a head start of 80 points to the third crew of Mr. Dhaene from France with VL-3 aircraft.

VL-3 in Sebring, USA
The Gobosh Aviation
unveiled its Gobosh 800XP luxury sport aircraft at the US Sport Aviation
Expo in Sebring, Florida, USA, which is a trade name of the VL-3 LSA aircraft for
the american market.
Such as the Czech type designation suggests, it is the VL-3 aircraft modified to fulfil
LSA category requirements. Namely
lower staling speed has been achieved by increasing of the wing span and redesigning of
the wing shape; also fixed landing gear and on the ground adjustable three-blade
Aero ELPROP propeller from carbon composite have been installed.
The X in the name Gobosh 800XP designates an all-glass cockpit
equipped by the electronic flight information system Dynon EFIS-D100 supported by
selected Garmin components. The P means installation of the ballistic
parachute rescue system.
Qualified pilots may use the 800XP Elite edition capabilities to fly Day
or Night VFR. The top model 800XP Elite+ offers luxury leather seats,
Bose headset jacks and GPS navigating system Garmin 396 with XMWX capabilities,
which allows the pilot to see real time NEXRAD radar overlays, wind speeds, and
temperature maps along with the weather forecasts in the surrounding area in real time.
The Aero-TV has brought an interview with representatives of Gobosh Aviation,
Tim Baldwin and Dave Graham about introducing the VL-3 / G800XP aircraft on the American market.

VL-3 in the SA Flyer Magazine
Front page of the SA Flyer Magazine 07/2007
Another article on VL-3 was printed in the July 2007 issue of the
SA Flyer Magazine,
which is the most sold aviation magazine in Africa.
The VL-3 aircraft is imported by
Wings 'n Tracks (Pty) Ltd
in Africa under name Flamingo thanks to similarity of the main landing gear legs
tucking with the bird of the same name.
You can download the whole article by John Miller with flight photos by

Another FAI Records on the VL-3
The Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI), the world's air sports federation,
ratified another two
world records
in the RAL2 category on Friday 3.8.2007, which had been flown on an
ultralight aircraft
VL-3.
Jiri Unzetig with Vera Vavrinova and
VL-3 aircraft,
OK-JUU 21, reached speed of 262.0 km/h (162.8 mph)
over a closed circuit of 50 km without landing. They took off on
Vysoke Myto airport (LKVM), Czech Republic, on 11 March 2007 at 9:15 o'clock.
FAI approved track was chosen with turnpoints Skutec airport (LKSK) and
a crossing of local communications 1.8 km SE Hrochuv Tynec with end
back on the Vysoke Myto airport, where the aircraft arrived at 9:28 o'clock.
Previous record of UK crew J. Harris / R. Sharp on Jabiru UL aircraft
from 2002 was surpassed by imposing 76 km/h.
The same crew set another record with performance of
268.4 km/h (166.8 mph) over
closed circuit of 100 km without landing the same day.
Take off (10:55 o'clock) and landing (11:24 o'clock) has been carried out on the
Vysoke Myto airport and track was chosen with turnpoints Opatovice nad Labem power plant and
crossing of road with local communication 1.3 km E Houdkovice.
Such performance surpassed also 5 years old record of the same UK crew
even by 81.4 km/h!
RAL2 category includes ultralight landplane with movable aerodynamic controls
flown with two persons.
The aircraft inclusive of crew has been weighed on precise electronic scales
before each attempt and its fuel tanks have been refilled to reach take-off weight
of up to 450 kg (992 lb).
The FAI database of
world records
contains 10 entries in this category and three of them belong to the above mentioned crew
on the same type of aircraft.
The first success
has been achieved by reaching speed of 274,78 km/h
over a straight 15/25 km course near Horovice, Czech Republic.

Avia BH-5 Replica in Flight
Construction of Avia B.H.5 historical aircraft, dubbed Boska, culminated on May 25, 2007,
when there was carried out its first flight by test pilot Jiri Unzeitig on the airport Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic.
